Children’s University

We are very proud to say that Branston Junior Academy is part of the Lincolnshire Children’s University!

What is Children’s University?

Children’s University is a national charity that celebrates learning beyond the classroom. It encourages children to try new experiences, discover interests, and gain confidence through a wide range of extra-curricular activities. Each child has a Learning Dashboard which they use to collect stamps or credits for the hours they spend taking part in validated activities, from sports and clubs to museums, libraries, and special events.

Why take part?

Research shows that children who take part in extra-curricular learning not only gain new skills but also show improvements in confidence, wellbeing, and academic performance. It helps them see learning as something exciting and relevant to everyday life, and it gives families a chance to share in that journey. Every child who takes part will be recognised for their efforts, with the opportunity to graduate at a special ceremony to celebrate their achievements.

How can parents get involved?

You can help your child make the most of Children’s University by encouraging them to:

• Take part in school clubs and community activities.
• Record what they do on their dashboard.

What is the process here at Branston Junior Academy?

Previously children were required to pay £5 for a passport. Moving to a digital platform means that all children have access to the Children’s university for free. Your child will be given a login and password to the children’s university dashboard. As your child takes part in clubs they will be issued with a code. This code is entered online at your child’s dashboard. This will then register as hours completed. The dashboard can be used for all sorts of visits and clubs not just those that are run in school.
