Welcome to Jupiter Class

Jupiter is a mixed year 5/6 class and our teacher is Miss Perkins

Important information to remember:

Homework – SPaG homework is set on a Monday and Maths homework is set on a Wednesday.

Both sets of homework need to be completed and handed in on the following Monday.

Reading – children are expected to read at home, and record it in their planner, at least three times per week.

Reading Records are handed in on a Thursday.

PE is on Wednesday and Thursday and children need to come to school in their PE kits.

WW1 Horrible Histories

We have had a great time watching some videos and using WW1 books to find out some interesting facts about WW1 to create our own Horrible History style non-chronological reports. Here is a few great examples:

Evacuee Portraits

To start our topic we have create Evacuee portraits, considered what we would pack if we were evacuee and even created our own evacuee labels.

A letter to Albert

As part of our first English unit, we have been studying a model text- based on the story War Horse by Michael Morpurgo. The model text was a letter from Albert to his horse Joey. We have then worked as a class to write a response letter.

Science: Mission 1: Up-thurst

As part of our Science unit on forces, we will be learning about different forces. Following this learning, we will compete in a range of war-based missions. Our first mission required us to apply our understanding of up-thrust to design a boat to carry army supplies. This winner held the largest weight. Have a look at some of our designs:

A new year- A new topic: World War 1 and World War 2

Welcome to a new academic year in Jupiter class. This term we will be studying World War 1 and World War 2. We will be focusing on the key events of WW1 and WW2, the impact it had on the lives of children, what Branston was like during this time period and how the war impacted the local community
