Welcome to Saturn Class

Saturn is a mixed year 5/6 class and our teacher is Miss Kisby

Important information to remember:

Homework – SPaG homework is set on a Monday and Maths homework is set on a Wednesday.

Both sets of homework need to be completed and handed in on the following Monday.

Reading – children are expected to read at home, and record it in their planner, at least three times per week.

Reading Records are handed in on a Thursday.

PE is on Wednesday and Thursday and children need to come to school in their PE kits.

War Horse inspired letter

We have been studying a letter from Albert to Joey (from the book War Horse by Michael Morpurgo). We have also been working on skills required to write letters. We then worked as a class to write a response to the original letter.

Timeline 1910-1950

We created a timeline to look at key events between 1910-1950. This was to help us understand the key events during the WW1 and WW2 period.

Science Mission: Design a boat

In Science, we have been studying forces- we used our learning about up-thrust to complete our first mission- designing a boat. Have a look at our designs and creations. The photograph shows the winning boat which held 2400g!

Evacuee Portraits

To start our topic, we shared a story about an evacuee called The Lion and The Unicorn by Shirley Hughes. We then created our own evacuee portraits, considered what we would pack in our suitcases and also created our own evacuee tags using a Palmer handwriting style.
