We have been exploring techniques and sentence structures to help build tension in our writing. We watched a clip from the Animals of Fathing Wood and then worked in a group to use different sentence types to create a tension narrative. 

Today we have been exploring different types of maps. We looked at OS maps of our local area to explore places we know. 

Today we have been studying classifications of plants. We explored vascular and non-vascular plants and created greenhouses that demonstrated their key features.

Today we have been exploring how micro-organisms are classified. We then took a look at a range of items under the microscope including: mould, skin, pond water, tortoise poo and moss. 

Today we began our Science topic of Animals and other living things. The year 6s worked with Miss Perkins to create diagrams to help us classify animals. 

This term we are studying Eco Warriors. We strated by creating images of the things we love about planet Earth. 

We have been learning about how Howard Carter uncovered Tutankhamen's tomb. We watch a film and then created comic strips to retell the story. 

We have been developing our sewing skills in art this term. We then applied our new skills to create Egyptian cats.

Today we have had an Ancient Egyptian Workshop. We explored some replica Egyptian aretefacts, built an Ancient Egyptian city, became Ancient Egyptian scribes and played some Ancient Egyptian games (Mancala and Senet) 

We have been introduced to a new model text called "The Time Slip Scarab" we worked as a class to create our text map. What do you think?

Today we have been mummifying our school friends to help us remember the process of mummification, in preparation for our instructions hot write.

As the new term begins, we will be venturing into the past and looking at the Ancient Egyptians. In science, we will be studying Light and Electricity and we look forward to sharing another fantastic book with our whole class reader.
