Remote Learning at Branston Junior Academy

At Branston Junior Academy, we use Microsoft Teams as a platform for our remote learning provision. All pupils at the school have been provided with a log in to access relevant “teams.” These teams may include: class teams and also subject specific teams. Through their class team, children will be able to access all of their assignments, meet with their teacher and fellow pupils and also post messages on the class wall about the learning.

Our remote learning provision consists of a daily registration and overview of the day- involving all pupils from the class and the class teacher. During this point, the teacher will check attendance and explain the learning and tasks to be completed- it is compulsory that children attend these registration meetings as it is also a way for us to check on the well-being of our pupils.

Children will receive a minimum of 4 lessons per day- these will always include: Maths, English, Reading and then at least one other additional curriculum subject (Science, D&T, History, Geography, Art, RE, PE, PSHE, Music, French or Computing.) These sessions can take many forms and be structured in a range of ways- they may use Oak Academy lessons, teaching videos, teaching PowerPoints, online quizzes, activities to complete or tasks to do- they also may require children to submit photos of their activities- which they can do through the assignment hand in page on Teams.

Once completed children will be required to hand in work- so that the teacher can see it and check it. Teachers will send feedback to children on their work as and when they professionally feel it is beneficial. They may also show positive praise within the class team.
